Long Beach Police Officers Mike Corbett and Eric Nadel demonstrate Segways on patrol.

Shown above are Long Beach Police Officers Mike Corbett and Eric Nadel demonstrating recently acquired Segways on patrol on the Long Beach boardwalk.

Lt. Bruce Meyer said that Long Beach police are the first to use Segways on Long Island. Meyer said they are ideal for the boardwalk, because they give the riders a better view of crowds during the summer. They also allow the officer to cover the length of the boardwalk in about 10 minutes.
