On December 11, 2006, Long Beach Police Department Motorcycle Unit Officers Steven Gumiela and Jose Miguez participated in an operation to escort Christmas trees from Dee's Nursery in Oceanside to Kennedy Airport.  These Christmas trees were destined to be shipped to our dedicated troops serving overseas.  Also participating were officers from the New York City Police Department, Nassau County Police Department, Port Authority Police Department and the Rockville Centre Police Department.  The Trees for Troops program was started four years ago.  The program was designed to show appreciation for our troops by transporting holiday spirit overseas in an effort to provide comfort to our military personnel separated from family and friends durring the holiday season.
