Police Commissioner Thomas R. Sofield, Sr. of the Long Beach Police Department announced the promotion of Police Officer Christopher Walsh to the rank of Detective.  “The Department is fortunate to have an Officer of Detective Walsh caliber,” stated Commissioner Sofield.   City Manager Charles T. Theofan swore in Detective Walsh on June 12, 2008.  The ceremony was held at Long Beach City Hall.

Detective Walsh joined the Long Beach Police Department on October 20, 1997, when he was sworn in as a Police Officer. Detective Walsh has served with distinction during his career with the Long Beach Police Department, receiving numerous departmental awards. Detective Walsh said, “I am very grateful to be given this opportunity to further serve the public.  I’m looking forward to working hard for the citizens of Long Beach in my continuing effort to keep Long Beach the wonderful, safe, beautiful community that it is.”  Detective Walsh graduated from SUNY Maritime College in 1990.
