On June 28th, 2021, at approximately 12:03 am, officers observed a motor vehicle operating at a high rate of speed and aggressively passing a vehicle stopped in a single lane of traffic on East Broadway. The motor vehicle continued operating recklessly through an intersection, which was crowded with numerous vehicles and dozens of pedestrians, both on the sidewalk and in the street. Officers attempted to stop the motor vehicle, however the operator refused stop, fleeing from officers. Subsequently, officers were able to stop the vehicle when it became stuck in vehicular traffic. The operator of the motor vehicle, 19 year old John C. Nealy of West Hempstead was placed under arrest at the scene and charged with Reckless Driving, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, Speed Not Reasonable, and Following Too Closely.
